AAAS Practical Training Exercises: Analyzing and Managing Risks in Life Sciences Research

The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) Center for Science, Technology, and Security Policy (CSTSP) developed practical training exercises for life scientists, veterinarians, and public health professionals that were based on high-quality, published life-science research from the broader Middle East and North Africa regions. The primary learning objectives of these exercises are: a) Develop the skills to think critically about risks and risk mitigation strategies needed in the trainees’ scientific environment; b) Improve trainees’ ability to identify risk management strategies and approaches that minimize identified risks and maintain the high quality and utility of the scientific activity; and c) Apply the risk analysis framework to trainee’s own or their peers’ scientific activities.
