Dr. Jaleal Sanjak

Dr. Jaleal Sanjak received his PhD from UC Irvine in the Mathematical, Computational, and Systems Biology program where he studied the population genetics of complex human traits and diseases. He used a combination of explicit evolutionary simulations and statistical genetic techniques to learn about how natural selection, mutation and demography affect patterns of genetic variation. As a Health Data Fellow with Insight Data Science, Jaleal received further training in data science, including machine learning, for the health and life science industries. At Gryphon, he continues to blend computational and data science techniques with his background in population biology.

Jaleal is an outdoor enthusiast and avid home cook who especially likes low-tech cooking over an open fire. He’s also a “die-easy” D.C. sports fan whose attention to games is easily diverted by his interest in discussing craft beer.
