Dr. Andrew Burnham

Dr. Andrew Burnham is an infectious disease biologist who earned his PhD in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology from Indiana University and completed a fellowship at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital where he worked on antiviral resistance of influenza viruses. His research focused on influenza B virus as well as H5N1 and emerging H7N9 influenza A viruses. Joining Gryphon in 2014, he has focused on collecting and analyzing human and animal surveillance and viral sequence data for infectious disease projects, most notably the NIH funded Centers of Excellence for Influenza Research and Surveillance (CEIRS).

Andrew collects vintage video games and is an amateur auto mechanic who can be found adventuring under the family’s cars or in pull-a-part car lots scavenging for replacement parts.
