Services & Skills

"The modeling results you and your team have put together are on track to give us exactly the data we need to move the policy questions forward. Many thanks!"

Gryphon provides a range of analytic as well as implementation services. In-depth technical analysis in the physical and life sciences is complemented by skills such as science writing, grant development, training, and meeting support.

Commercial Strategy

For healthcare and human service organizations, we assist in developing mission-driven “corporate” strategies. We also provide management and business development support to private sector firms in the biopharmaceutical industry.

Training & Workforce Development

Gryphon’s in-person and online training exercises are designed to immerse users in realistic scenarios rather than didactic material. Whether we are providing technical advice to state executives on CBR hazards or training workers to operate safely in biologically contaminated environments, we emphasize active, experiential, case-based learning.

Systems Evaluation & Implementation

Gryphon has a long track-record assisting DHS and DoD in determining whether CBRN detection systems will meet their goals. We have established system requirements to identify suitable technologies, determined the feasibility of possible signals, evaluated performance characteristics, and designed ConOps for the use of detection systems by state, local, and private-sector operators.

Systems Design

For clients such as DHS and NRL, we develop the technical requirements for CBRN systems, such as biological detectors. We use literature analysis and mathematical modeling to establish device or software performance parameters required for optimal function, such as level of detection, acceptable false positive/negative rate, and allowable time per test.

Science Writing

Gryphon offers scientific writing for both the scientific and general public. Science writing services include developing research highlights to summarize current scientific papers in a clear and concise manner for the scientific public, presenting scientific reports in a manner accessible to the general public, and compiling manuscripts for publication in scientific journals.  Scientific accuracy is the lynch pin of all good science writing. We pride ourselves on ensuring author approval for all scientific summaries.

Red Teaming

A method for assessing risk, red team analysis is based on a simulated event or table-top exercise where one hypothetical team (the Red Team) acts as the aggressor against another (the Blue Team) which acts as a defender. The goal is to identify the vulnerabilities in a particular location or system.

Meeting support

Our meeting facilitation experiences range from moderating focus groups to managing executive meetings designed to reach consensus on strategic planning issues. We also provide logistical support and prepare substantive briefing materials for participants including literature reviews and syntheses of key issues

Literature Analysis

To analyze the state of theory or practice in a given field, Gryphon’s staff of life scientists performs in-depth scientific literature reviews to locate all information relevant to the client, including studies published in foreign languages such as Russian, Spanish and French. Our extensive scientific expertise then allows us to draw out relevant data, perform analyses, and otherwise summarize the data in a format requested by the client.

CBRNE and Contagious Disease Modeling

Gryphon bases all of its mathematical models on data found in the scientific literature. All of our models of contagious disease or CBRN release and spread are founded on the characteristics of the agent, including infectious dose, stability, decay rate, and disease manifestations. In-depth understanding of the agent leads to the generation of accurate models that can best represent the consequences of a CBRN or contagious agent release.
